Hey! I'm baaaack. Lol. So for today, I figured that I would do a writing post about characters (wait for it)...who are in a coma. It's not just the unconscious, drag-their-body-while-they're-out-so-the-jouney-can-succeed, or the "And I saw blackness and a tunnel" or stuff like that. Oh, no, no, no. Coma patients tend to make it a tad harder than that. So here is a list of _ things that you should know when writing a coma patient.
1. They do not just sleep the entire time. Naah, they like to be creepier than that. A lot of times, their eye's will open, they might even look around or stare at certain people. Sometimes, they'll even move when asked, but can't even remember it once they're conscious.
2. They dream...a lot. One girl could have bet money on the fact that she was in Alaska, trudging up a mountain to save the glorious pine tree trophy. The dreams are so vivid, and so lifelike, once they wake up, the coma patient will have trouble distinguishing what's real and what's not. That leads me to the next thing...
3. Their dreams or ramblings usually make no sense. You usually can't distinguish what they are saying, and once you do, you might get tired of 'em pretty quick.
4. Sometimes, they're under the delusion that someone died. If they can realize that something happened to them, they might think that close ones or family members were hurt somehow too.
5. You should know the Glasgow Coma Scale. That's right!
This, my friends, is a Glasgow coma scale. This is how coma patients are rated. So if you're writing a character with a coma, you might want to pick their symptoms off this list.
6. And finallyyyy....every coma patient is different. Every patient takes their own time to heal, whether it be a week, or two years. For your books, I'm assuming it won't be longer than a year, but if you need it...
(This post took my 3 hours 'cause I kept falling asleep. Lol)
Ciao for now!

A Brief (Not) Summary of Mock Trial
Mock Trial is basically my life, besides NaNoWriMo and school. A lot of people give me a completely lost look when we try to have a decent conversation because of this.
"So do you play any sports?"
"...no."
"Oh okay. Do you do any theatre?
"Not recently. I've been a bit preoccupied."
"What do you do then?
"Mock Trial." O-o
For those of you who don't know mock trial, this is what Wikipedia says:
A mock trial is an act or imitation trial. Mock trials simulate lower-court trials. Attorneys preparing for a real trial might use a mock trial consisting of volunteers as role players to test theories or experiment with each other. Mock trial is also the name of an extracurricular program in which students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system in a competitive manner. Interscholastic mock trials take place on all levels including primary school, middle school, high school, college, and law school. Mock trial is often taught in conjunction with a course in Trial Advocacy or takes place as an after school enrichment activity.
Yeah...tad confused still? Lemme break it down:
There are usually 15 people on a team. 6 of those are people who dress up in suits and pretend to be attorneys. 6 of those are people who dress up in suits and pretend to be victims, experts, and basically play-pretend. Your team tells a wonderful (usually) murder story. Then, the other team tries to make it look like you sit on a throne of lies.
See? I think that would be a much better Wikipedia entry.
So this picture down below is possible the most fun park I've ever played on. It doesn't look like much, but my goodness, it's the greatest thing since veggie chips. Our team spent hours playing on it. Chech it out. It's the Brooklyn Bridge Pier 2 Exercise Park. If you ever get the chance, GO.

THIS, my friends, is Empire Mock Trial International Competition logo. Teams are invited (usually about 40) from all around the world. Whales, Ireland, Australia, U.S.A, and Canada were just a few off the top of my head. It's so much fun, but really intense. It was one of the most fun things I've ever done in my life.
This to my right is a selfie they take at Empire before it starts. It's soo fun. Sorry, I'll stop going on about it. But first...So this picture down below is possible the most fun park I've ever played on. It doesn't look like much, but my goodness, it's the greatest thing since veggie chips. Medical Explanations by Non-Doctor Remi- Part 1
Hey guys! Still sick today! *cheering in the background* Hahaha...ha.
Okay, today is going to be an informational day. I'm going to talk about Hashimoto's disease.
Perhaps you are looking at me like this puppy. "Remi, what the emu is that?"
There are two definitions:
1. The Medical Definition: In Hashimoto’s disease, the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, causing inflammation and interfering with its ability to produce thyroid hormones. Large numbers of white blood cells called lymphocytes accumulate in the thyroid. Lymphocytes make the antibodies that start the autoimmune process.
That goes right over my head. Here's the one my doctor used:
2. Okay, so your thyroid wants pizza (this got my attention). It calls the pizza place and places an order through their voicemail. The pizza place is actually closed, so there's no pizza. Your thyroid gets mad. It wants pizza. But it's not getting pizza. So it thinks it's a pizza and attacks itself.
The second one makes way more sense to me. I mean, c'mon, who doesn't love a good pizza? So yeah. And now I am tired, and will continue this post tomorrow. Good night!

Hello and Hi
*drum rolls*
HELLO! Welcome to On Our Wings.
This blog is going to have random writing tips, stories, discussions, and anything else I feel like talking about.
Perhaps I should introduce myself. My name is Remi. I'm participating for the 1st time in NaNoWriMo this year. I've done Camp twice and I've got an inspiring group of friends, the Chritenos. I'm wacky, I love to laugh, and I'm too lazy to hit the 'shift' button sometimes so I hit 'caps lock' instead. Heeeheee.
You are probably wondering about the title. "But Remi, why On Our Wings?" I'm glad you asked! On Our Wings is the tentative title of my NaNoWriMo novel this year. For me, it symbolizes challenges, fun, and magic. And who doesn't love that?
Let's talk about NaNoWriMo for a second (but only for a second, 'cause I'm scatterbrained ^-^). NaNo (short for National Novel Writing Month) is a tediously fun endeavor in which a person has to write 50,000 words in 30 days. You can check it out here:
http://nanowrimo.org
And you can check my profile out here:
http://nanowrimo.org/participants/kineticbugsy
Since this is my first year, I will be posting about NaNo once it comes, and probably in October too. Until then, I hope you enjoy my ramblings!
Ciao!
(If anyone knows how to download GIFs onto a mac, please let me know. I have no clue how. XD).
